Phyllite comes from the layers of the Pre-Cambrian era with more than 550 million years of geological history. Argillaceous sedimentary rocks are transformed into Slate through the metamorphic process under the effect of pressure, temperature and tectonic compression. This is when Slate becomes Phyllite, which is harder and denser than standard natural slate.
Due to its physical and mechanical properties phyllite is an excellent roofing product as well as a remarkable stone for flooring, cladding, gardenning or special cut to size for kitchen tops with several finishes like brushed, honed or flamed.
